Local Eco News – Some Headlines from November…

  • Andy P (of the summer’s famed ‘Andy’s Bat walks’) organised a ‘Walk for Wildlife’ on the last Sunday of November with a pleasant ramble for nature lovers over St Mary’s Fields. Numerous species were spotted and recorded on irecord – including yellowhammers and redwings, not to mention several colourfully named fungi: Turkey Tails, Crystal Brain, Hairy Curtain Crust and Dog Vomit Slime Mould! There are plans for another walk in the new year – watch this space!
Some Hairy Curtain Crust!
  • Volunteers with Cycling Without Age visited the Dovecote wellbeing Cafe the same day and took a number of people out for a spin round Kidlington on their amazing trishaw, so that the guests could feel the wind in their hair and experience the joy of cycling!
The Trishaw in action!
  • Rhiannon from Wild Kidlington and a fab team of volunteers have been busy plug planting wildflowers to beautify Lyne Rd Green next year.
  • Kidlington Baptist Church’s ‘Ladies Christmas Swap Shop’ event got a great uptake and went very well. Quality preloved clothes, gifts and toys were swapped by those gathered over Christmassy refreshments in the run up to Christmas – to save money, recycle and have fun!
