Electric Vehicles

Co Wheels Pilot

KEG’s been asked to pass on the positive news that…

Co Wheels have recently launched an EV car club vehicle at the Park and Charge hub in Curtis Place car park in Kidlington which can be borrowed on a pay-per-use basis by local residents and businesses. This is part of a county-wide pilot scheme that will be running until April 2024 – all details are on their website: https://www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/…/electric-vehicle-pilot

EV car clubs provide the opportunity for people to drive when they need to without necessarily owning their own vehicle, and also provide first-hand experience of driving electric for those considering making the switch. The Co Wheels car in Kidlington is a brand new MG4 fully battery electric vehicle, with a range of well over 200 miles and lovely to drive apparently. Co Wheels have some great introductory offers as part of the pilot, including free lifetime membership and no joining fee – all details on their website.

They hope to demonstrate that there is demand for shared electric vehicles in towns and villages in Oxfordshire beyond Oxford City itself (where they are already commonplace and very successful). The results of the trial will hopefully influence future OCC policy around car clubs and shared vehicles.

Interested in Car – Loops?

Did you know that the average car spends 96% of its life just sitting on our drives. What if we could begin to explore creative ways of sharing our vehicles and helping to reduce the number of cars currently in our community?

One of the gaps that we identified at one of our KEG gatherings were local schemes or opportunities that sought to address this challenge. We’re exploring a few options longer term, but here’s our starter for ten!
