Car Boot Sale – Sat 27th Aug 2022, from 11am – 2pm, Exeter Hall, Oxford Rd, Kidlington, OX5 1AB

Waste Innovation Station Headquarters (WISH) have a mission to cut waste by helping people to pass on preloved items, or repair and reuse old ones. “We’re having a car boot sale to raise funds for Cherwell Larder and welcoming Krissy Matthews back to Exeter Hall on August 27th! Please join us for live music, refreshments, great deals, and a thrifty way to start off the August bank holiday! This will be the final WISH car boot sale of the summer so don’t miss it! Big Hay Rake Sun 28th Aug 2022, 10am-12pm, St Mary’s Fields, Church Lane, OX5 2BB

The annual hay rake on St Mary’s fields is a popular community event. After the grass in the meadows has been mown, it is essential to rake up the cuttings to encourage the wild flowers next spring. Some rakes provided, but if you have one please bring it! All ages welcome! Meet in the car park behind St Mary’s Church

Meet the gang of volunteer conservationists in the St Mary’s Church carpark at 10am for a spot of pond clearance, raking, and general maintenance.

Future work parties are on the 1st Oct & 5th Nov.

Apple Pressing – Sats 2nd, 15th, & 29th Oct 2022

Join Kidlington Abundance for one of their community apple pressing events! Bring along your surplus apples and pears, some clean, empty wine bottles with screw caps and turn them into something delicious! If you don’t have any fruit, just come and join in the fun! Everyone takes home some juice.

Pencil it in…

  • ‘Andy’s Bat Walks’ – After two successful pilot walks earlier in the summer Andy P and Wild Kidlington is hoping to host some bat walks around the village on Friday evenings starting on the 12th August from 8.30pm-ish. A short talk and Q&A is followed by an expedition to go track some down with bat detectors! Watch our upcoming events page for updates about details.
  • Tree planting at Ron Groves park – on either the last weekend of October or first weekend of November there are plans to plant some trees, and invite the community to come along and take part. Watch this space for more info nearer the time.

Sainsbury’s Roundabout – Planned changes to the Sainsbury’s roundabout include the felling of 10 trees. You can share your input via the consultation survey here (deadline 12th Aug).
