A Happy New(ish) Year to You!

🎵 ‘Who you gonna call? DRAUGHT BUSTERS!’ 🎵
Perhaps during the current cold snap you’ve noticed the warmth whistling out of your home and those fuel bills nudging up and up and up. Why not find out more about KEG’s free Draught Busters initiative and/or request a visit from Anthony and Bob (our wonderful draught busting duo) to come and carry out some quick-win interventions for you. Visit our DB page here for more info – or pick up one of our flyers from Exeter Hall or the library.

Some TLC for Stratfield Brake – A Woodland Trust Task Group was established before Christmas (here are some snaps from the 12th Dec session) to carry out a variety of practical tasks under the guidance of the Woodland Trust Site Manager. They’ve started work on keeping the site looking spic and span and the pathways accessible, as well as helping to manage the woodland in line with management plans. It’s a great way to learn skills and meet new people, and the Working Group is directly contributing to the care and upkeep of valuable habitats. If you’d be interested in joining them you can find out more info and register as a volunteer via the Woodland Trust volunteers page here.

Pining for Christmas Past – KEG-ites festooned a couple of trees for the Christmas Tree festival at St Mary’s church last month, when a pine forest sprung up in the nave, populated with trees decorated by many different community groups and organisations. KEG’s tree was festooned with a combination of pre-loved decorations, recycled materials and natural ornaments. Some were made with help from members of the public at the No Waste Noel. St Mary’s Fields Conservation group’s tree (partially finished above) which was woven from coppiced hazel twigs can still be admired by the gate leading into the reserve from the carpark.

To find out more information about the proposals and/or to fill in the survey (the deadline is Friday 14 February 2025) visit the Cherwell District Council page here.
